The Most Stylish Music Video Ever?

I am absolutely loving the transition of hip-hop music and culture. I've always been a big fan of hip-hop music for its creativity, originality and its "anything is possible" attitude.

Love it or hate it, hip-hop has always been very influential and has always had a strong impact on youth culture, specifically on the way young people dress. So now that rappers are rhyming about Martin Margiela ("ain't nobody fresher, I'm in Maison, uh, Martin Margiela" -Jay-z in "Run This Town") and wearing high-end fashion brands like Tom Ford and Calvin Klein Collection (see picture below), we are seeing more and more people wanting to dress-up and wear clothing that is slimmer, more tailored and more fashion-forward.

This transition, which is due in large part to the genius and influence of Kanye West, is producing a whole different type of music video, like the one below, which is part short film, part work of art, and part runway show.

Watch the video HERE (it wouldn't allow me to embed it directly onto my blog).

If you're wondering, my favorite look is Common's (the third rapper on the track). Check out those shoes! Those ain't no Air Force One's.

Yours in style, DT aka SB

Good stuff, now just if rap could clean up their rhymes into something more productive I might become a fan again
kanye- a little bit of a disappointment here? not his usual fashion forward, maybe just my expectations? (tims and oversized army)

Trep, I think you may be overlooking bball also as a big influence on post-modern hip hop style (a lot of people underestimate it, but look at the change since the nba dress code)

People don't think about it- look at the change since the inception of the nba dress code

Anonymous: You can't address 'rap' as a whole... both common and kanye (don't know much about cudi, but I would bet he's the same due to his associates) are conscious rappers who frequently address cultural and societal concerns.

also I totally dig kanye's outfit here. totally casual chic.

Great visuals, but decidedly "boring" outfits. Cudi breaks the cardinal rule of not tucking in his undershirt and letting it hang out from under his button down. Kanye's style jumps into a time machine and heads back to 1997 (though I am feeling the Army surplus coat). And finally, Common does his best to save the video, but only half succeeds in my book...I can't stand a shirt buttoned up all the way without a necktie.

@L.A.S.:

how can outfits that "break the rules" be simultaneously boring?
